Depending on the level of sophistication you need, SQWebmail could be a
great solution. I was playing with it on my home network and found it
to be quite nice. It basically runs as a CGI on your web server. It's
pretty fast and easy to set up. As for twiddling with the
features/settings, I'm not sure how much you can do. However, I found
it to be very nice while I was using it. Now, I basically use it as my
backup for when squirrelmail decides to quit working.
