This is one of the issues we need to work through with future releases
since we do have a clash of version numbers around.
The test release (probably a beta release) for 4.50 may well be labelled
as 4.4x.
This one, which is a release candidate for a real 4.44 release, has
(almost) all the bug fixes I am aware of from the 4.50 development line
(so including the current snapshot release), but excludes the additional
functionality, excludes complex/invasive changes and does not change the
interfaces (so does not need a documentation update - which is the thing
that will slow down a 4.50 release).
They are parallel development lines, and future development needs to
handle version numbers better to organise this appropriately.
I expect such things will be discussed at the exim conference as well as
on the exim-dev list.
Have I managed to confuse you further yet? If not I can keep on
explaining...
Nigel.
