Sorry for the late reply, been on a course (accounts, discounted cash
flow, oh! bliss, where's that coil of hemp)

Anyhow used

$ exiqgrep -r randomain.net -i | xargs -l exim -Mrm

as suggested and all worked ok, thanks for the reply Phil, I was worried
we had done something seriously odd.
