Bad idea. The relaydomain field of vexim assumes that your vexim
server acts as a backup mx and that the dns records are set accordingly.
As far as I've understood your description above that is not what you
want to achieve and I'd therefor recommend removing that domain of the
relaydomain field from vexim.

That should be correct. (Compare with the mail hub example from
chapter 20.7.)

Remember that routers are tried in order one after the other
and the first match "wins".

What does the output of exim4 -bt knock@??? show?
What router is actually used to route that address?
