Autor: Dean Brooks Data: A: exim-users Assumpte: [exim] Does exim_tidydb need to be run in cron?
Hi,
We've been running Exim for many years now on a high-volume mail cluster.
My question is whether or not exim_tidydb really needs to be run on
a regular basis in cron, especially in a high volume environment.
My understanding is that "retry_data_expire" automatically expires
retry data older than 7 days anyway, and old record slots simply
get reused. Plus, entries in the wait database and the retry
database that are tied to message id are presumably supposed to
be purged by Exim when the messages are delivered.
So, aside from Exim crashes, etc., is there really any need to
ever tidy the database?
The manual is very vague about the _real_ need to run tidydb.
