They obviously want you to use _their_ smarthost.

One reads the specs and sets the appropriate private option on the
remote_smtp_smarthost router.

> hosts_try_auth = ${if exists {CONFDIR/passwd.client}{DCsmarthost}{}}
Do not read the autogenerated config, it is stripped of all comments
which might prove helpful.
