That certainly seems to have fixed the problem. Not one error after I
changed and restarted exim4. I don't know why the configuration was
created like that. I never hand-edited the files. Instead I used
debian apt installer to install the exim4-daemon-heavy package and
followed the prompts. Maybe there was a problem with the configuration
script? I duuno. BUT THANK YOU ALL! I could not believe how fast the
responses came. I am most grateful, as I could find no mention of such
a problem as mine in all the list archives or anywhere on google.
