Sorry, I haven't kept the earlier messages in this thread so this may
be off the mark.
Have you mentioned what error the smarthost is generating? My first
guess is that you are running afoul of your anti-relaying rules,
since the failing messages are from an external sender and to an
external recipient. Are you making an exception in your relay
rejection for messages from your internal server? This is normally
done via relay_from_hosts.
