I cannot remember. The oldest release of Exim that I still have is 1.62,
dated April 1997, and it has filter documentation in it. User filters
were a very early feature: the ChangeLog records that they were added in
0.43. I do not, however, have a date for 0.43, but it would have been
some time in 1996. It was Piete Brooks who suggested the addition of
a filtering capability.
