Thanks for the very specific description and demo. It really helps me
understand and see some of the problems. I forwarded it and
descriptions of RFC 2821 section 6.1 (Reliable Delivery and Replies by
Email) to my ISP's support address. However, at the moment there
seems to be some intransigence or misunderstanding. As a backup, I am
afraid I need to start finding alternative ISP possibilities.

It would be nice to use this approach to verify potential IPSs, but in
testing the dig on the MX followed by the telnet to port 25, it seems
my machine is unable to telnet to port 25 of any machine outside of my
current domain.

Thank you very much for your help. If you have any other suggestions,
they are greatly appreciated.
