Check that your binary definitely has LDAP support:-

    ldd /usr/sbin/exim | grep ldap


If there is an ldap library then there is something screwy somewhere.
If not then the build set is wrong and the rpm spec needs work.

BTW the Fedora distribution exim rpm has LDAP support - thats what I
normally run (although I don't use LDAP).
