The reasoning behind the current list setup (ie not having forced reply-
to:) is that on list stuff should go to the list, but an equally valid
(in fact encouraged) technique is to have off-list discussions with on-
list summary postings. In the case of personal comments etc, they
should definitely go off list.
The list overall is a little tetchy - not sure why, although I guess a
number of people are feeling a little overloaded and underappreciated.
It would be good if a general level of politeness and restraint were
used (and I know I can explode off the handle quickly too sometimes).
