Oh, it works -- but I think it's more efficient to do something like:
domainlist not_dns_virtual_domains = !lsearch;CONFDIR/conf/DNS_VIRTUAL
domainlist dns_virtual_domains = !+not_dns_virtual_domains : @mx_any
