I was a bit surprised by that too, but anyway.

While I agree with Nigel's comments about processing messages at message
reception time, we are currently using MailScanner for all our incoming
mail; all Nigel's caveats are acknowledged. We implemented it at a time
when there weren't many other options (exiscan was very young, and we were
running Exim3 at that point) :)

I am likely to move some of the functionality out of MailScanner to do
more reception-time stuff via exiscan or similar, but it will probably
still be useful for as a framework for filtering out somethings that are
tricky to do otherwise so it will probably live on here to a greater or
lesser extent.
