[Exim] How exim count the number of concurrent sessions?

Hi, does any one know how exim count the number of concurrent sessions?

Wen I do:
Linux shell> netstat -tuna| awk '/^tcp/ {print $4}'|grep :25|wc -l

I get numbers diferents than looking in the log.
