[Exim] Exim on Gentoo/Linux 2.6.7 hangs in milliwait()

Hi folks,

Is anyone else seeing Exim hang in milliwait() while trying to deliver
to Maildir folders? I only see this on Linux.

Specifically, it happens in this environment:

exim-4.34 / exim-4.41
glibc-2.3.3.20040420
linux-2.6.7-gentoo-r11
SMP enabled
HT enabled
PREEMPT disabled

Debug output shows:

writing data block fd=7 size=1625 timeout=0
renaming temporary file

appendfile yields 0 with errno=0 more_errno=0
