This shouldn't be "hash_8", it should be something more along the lines of:
return_path = ${local_part:$sender_address}=$local_part=$domain=\
${length_8:${hex2b64:${hmac{sha1}{SECRET}\
{${local_part:$sender_address}=$local_part=$domain}\
}}}
(Untested, but hopefully you get the idea)
Testing it on the way back in follows much the same sort of pattern.
