...errrrr, chmod 1777 was for /var/spool/mail (or /var/mail -- usually it's a
symlink to /var/spool/mail) _NOT_ for /var/spool/exim
For /var/spool/exim, just do chown exim.exim /var/spool/exim, assuming you
have added a user and group called exim. Should fix it.
