Read your logfiles, please. It's no use sending us output of 'file *' or
'du -sh *' from your spool. Aparently something is going wrong, or you
are receving more mail than your server can handle.
Investigate which of those it is.
Stop your mailserver, see if there is mail on your queue, try to deliver
it in debug mode, anything...

This host sent you the (large) mail.

Maybe you want to skip virusscanning / spamchecking mail if the size is
more than 1MB or something.

Probably because your mailserver failed delivering it correctly, and
4xx't the remote host, which is now retrying until timed out or
accepted.
