We had someone at our LUG giving a talk on TMDA recently - I went along
with extra flame thrower fuel packs and an attitude :-)
Interestingly enough I was rather more convinced at the end of the talk
- however its very much a case of a TMDA installation can work well if
configured very carefully. TMDA actually has quite an arsenal of
different mail handling measures including all the fun of role addresses
and time limited addresses. Where it goes badly wrong is if someone
just sets it up as a generic Challenge/Response mechanism on all
incoming mail, and unfortunately thats what most users will do. Even
worse, most ISPs that do this sort of thing make the same mistake.
