They did, took it off, same prob.
But he's uncovered the answer: it was his dsl router, a D-Link DI804V.
He replaced this and it works! How bizarre. He even tried on win2k box
and it worked. So its the combination of XP and the DI804V. He is going
to ring DLink to see if they have any information.
