I'm running Exim4.3x on FreeBSD4.9 hosting a domain that is being
plagued by spammers. Previously this domain was hosted on a Sendmail
setup that accepted every message, and tossed it to /dev/null.
My Exim setup returns '550 No such user' on incorrect RCPT TO's.
Sometimes spam comes in at a rate of 2 or 3 per second. For each reject
a line is written in the logfiles. I'm happy with that, expected
behaviour.
Each day, FreeBSD mails me the daily checkup mails, which unfortunately
contains the complete Exim reject-log. And there's my problem. I'd like
to filter out the tons of rejects on that specific domain. But I can't
find the place to do just that.
I tried hacking /etc/periodic/daily/460.status-mail-rejects but this is
just a part of the daily mails, so it seems. It generates the "Checking
for rejected mail hosts:" mails, but not the "Checking for rejected
mail:" mails.
Anyone else ever had this problem, and know where I should go to fix it?
Thanks,
Sander.
