I'm stunned. Exim 3, which is obsolete, was released in 98/99. There
will be security bugs in exim 2.12 and it would be very much worth your
upgrading. You could also use exiscan with current exim 4 versions to
do basic attachment blocking with minimal CPU cost.

Don't do things that way round since you would be multiplying the virus
through majordomo and then scanning. Instead scan incoming mail.
Divert the MXes to one or more of the other boxes and use a specific
router to relay the mail to the list box. Modify the list box to only
accept from the relay boxes.
Please don't ask us how to do this with exim2.x - I can't even remember
when I last saw a 2.x installation - although BT internet in the UK were
running ancient releases comparatively recently (a quick check shows
they have now filed off the serial numbers so its probably still
ancient, but they won't admit to it).
