Try configuring your exim with the instructions at
http://www.exim.org/exim-html-4.20/doc/html/C002.txt
Standard bsd rmail assumes sendmail as the MTA, and while exim is mostly
a dropin replacement for sendmail, it doesn't do UUCP natively.
