Yes, my desktop is running the above combination fine too.. so I
defintely don't doubt the above combination as being able to work
together.

However I just did a buildworld to upgrade my mx2 to 5.2.1-p4 and
rebuilt exim and am still having these "lost input connections".

I should add, everying used to work on 5.2.1-release.

I'll keep tinkering but any tips on ways forward would be appreciated.

I might have to try the bsd mailing lists too..
