A little more information on what version it DID work with, and what
version you are currently trying to install, along with information
about wether you are using GnuTLS or OpenSSL and what version, would
probably help us quite a bit.

Exim recently changed API versions so it compiles with the newer GnuTLS
libraries. IIRC it also supports certificate verification now.

So probably you need to upgrade your 'TLS/SSL' library.
