i'm starting this as a different thread as it's a slightly different problem.
i have a situation where i have an electronic mailing list which
is gatewayed with a web forum; i control the server that handles
the mailing list but the form is on someone else's web server.
the forum software is generating bogus message ids. some
subscribers to the list are on mail servers that are rejecting
email based on bogus message ids. these are ending up in
my lap as list owner. Nigel's recipe for adding message ids
almost solves my problem, except i need to replace bogus
message ids, not just supplement them. anyone got a way
to do that substitution?
