(FROM RFC2822):
    3.6.4. Identification fields
    Though optional, every message SHOULD have a "Message-ID:" field.
    Furthermore, reply messages SHOULD have "In-Reply-To:" and
    "References:" fields as appropriate, as described below.
    The "Message-ID:" field contains a single unique message identifier.
    The "References:" and "In-Reply-To:" field each contain one or more
    unique message identifiers, optionally separated by CFWS.

However, according to RFC2119, SHOULD is defined as:
    SHOULD: This word, or the adjective "RECOMMENDED", mean that there
    may exist valid reasons in particular circumstances to ignore a
    particular item, but the full implications must be understood and
    carefully weighed before choosing a different course.

PS, had to write this in OE6 since exim.org rejects mail without a
Message-ID.

Hi Stuart,
According to google, from an Outlook MVP outlook cannot add this.
Sodding microsoft, thought they are complying with RFC`s .. Its just a
pain. Even better is the fact that the whole reason this was removed "was to
protect privacy of the users computer" - great point but the MTA adds the IP
address in the received headers ;-)

I am also looking for this solution (another Outlook 2003 user). I can't
send anything to plus.net as they reject all mail without a Message-ID:
header. I am using my ISP's mailserver (Exim 4.30) so I really need to
generate the header in Outlook if I can.

Exim.org rejects messages with null message-ids

I see your point Nigel, I agree fully with rejecting none validated e-mail.
I could kick Micro$loth right now :-).
Quick question: I wish to generate a message id header, will referencing
$h_message-id generate this ?
