Hi All (again),

OK, following last weeks comments I've tuned our system a little and it
seems to have helped. We are now seeing reduced server load and the like
I've just done a check our on /var/spool/mail/input and its 21GB, with
1131617 files in it. Its double hashed (ie:
/var/spool/mail/a/1/1ABC-EJIJE-WE3)
Does this seem way too big for a site of our size? Below are my eximstats
from Thursday

Grand total summary
-------------------
                                                       At least one address
TOTAL Volume Messages Hosts Delayed Failed
  Received 23GB 650725 42318 70598 10.8% 114954
17.7%
  Delivered 20GB 541363 6029

Deliveries by transport
-----------------------
                           Volume Messages
  local_delivery 10MB 977
  remote_smtp 1163MB 50967
  virtual_delivery 19GB 488622

In regards to Stephen's commets

Are there implications of doing this? Do mail hosts realise that mail is
coming from another host other than the MX for the domain?
It doesnt need to be listed as an MX for the domain does it? Just another
server, running exim and anything that is queued up for remote delivery (on
normal MX) gets sent to this "other server" for sending later on instead of
being sent from the local system, thus freeing up tons of network bandwidth,
system IO and disk space notable (22GB odd).

Is my understanding of that type of setup correct?

Thanks for all your valuable help and input, its really great

Regards,
Paul
