[Exim] exim + pam & passwords beginning in digits.

My PAM authentication for exim works perfectly. Unfortunately though,
for whatever reason, it fails if the user's password begins with a digit.

If there are digits IN the user's password, it's fine. But if it begins
with digits, I get "Incorrect Authentication Information."

Any ideas, or anywhere else I should be looking for an answer?
