In FreeBSD we can run either the original perl or one installed from the
ports. We simply run a command
use.perl port # to use the one from the ports (/usr/local/bin/perl)
use.perl system # to use the one from the base system (always old version)
# /usr/bin/perl
so.. I see no pb with a new version from here, unless it has bugs ;)
