I've setup Exim on several secondary MX hosts, and up util today this "safety
net" as been passive.
Yesterday our primary mail server went offline (thanks Qwest!) and the
secondary MX got called into action. They worked great. All mail got queued
as expected.
Problems started when the primary mail server came back online. The secondary
MX hosts started their deliveries and crushed the primary mail server.
The secondary MX hosts have
queue_run_max = 2
remote_max_parallel = 2
Reading the documentation, I believe this says 4 maximum deliveries can take
place.
I'm doing many more exim instance on the secondary MX host then just 4 and I'm
continously hitting the smtp_accept_max limit on the main mail server.
I'm I missing something?
