-- especially when I said I was on dialup at the moment, so you know

I know that Exim doesn't currently do this; that's why I asked for it.
I wasn't asking you to read the manual for me, but thanks anyway :)

This is true. As could a bona fide recipient, whose mail will also
bounce if sits on the queue for too long. That's an acceptable loss.
