Indeed, that symptom is almost invariable an indicator of some problem
with the DBM library.

Are you absolutely sure that the db.h header file it used is the right
one for the libdb that you linked it with? If more than one DBM library
has been installed on your box, there's always a danger of the wrong
db.h being seen.
