I am having a big problem with my mail system shutting down, and for the
life of me I can't figure out why. Someone please advise.
The mail system will be cooking along just fine and for some unknown
reason, nscd shutsdown with a message which looks like:
(from /var/log/everything)
Oct 19 10:48:28 [kernel] grsec: signal 11 sent to (nscd:1864) UID(0)
EUID(0), parent (nscd
:239) UID(0) EUID(0)
Oct 19 10:48:28 [kernel] grsec: signal 11 sent to (nscd:18684) UID(0)
EUID(0), parent (nsc
d:239) UID(0) EUID(0) by (nscd:239) UID(0) EUID(0), parent (nscd:8063)
UID(0) EUID(0)
This causes the exim messages in the log to look like:
Oct 19 11:48:58 [exim] 2003-10-19 11:48:58 H=(domain.physics.tamu.edu)
[165.91.121.69] sender verify fail for <validsender@???>:

[165.91.121.69] F=<validsender@???> rejected RCPT

FYI
Gentoo 1.4.3.10p1
Exim 4.12 (we tried 4.21, but it toasted us)
NSCD from the glibc 2.3.2-r1
What other info is needed to help diagnose this problem?--
