Go to exim 4 as this is a new install - compile it yourself or use
andreas metzler's backported exim4 port.

GMX - sure.
Hotmail - they don't do AUTH, they just accept mail using DAV if you are
using Outlook Express as your client. Maybe they are just blocking your
IP as it is a dialup and not too many people care to accept mail sent
direct from dialups?
