Simon, you're mad! But then again, I new that. Current is really to
tinker with the latest unstable features of BSD. Hell, even 5-stable is
unsuitable for production systems...
The best thing with BSD is to use ports for everything -- easy to
upgrade, hassle free and generally it works(tm). So....
Have you tried to install it from the port at /usr/ports/mail/exim? It
will install it, create users and do everything for you. There are a
few other ports for special needs Exim:
mail/exim mail/exim-doc-postscript mail/exim-mysql
mail/exim-doc-html mail/exim-ldap mail/exim-old
mail/exim-doc-info mail/exim-ldap2 mail/exim-postgresql
mail/exim-doc-pdf mail/exim-monitor
