This doesn't work as advertised. Change:
return ((/^(\d{1,3})\.(\d{1,3})\.(\d{1,3})\.(\d{1,3})$/)
to:
return (($_[0] =~ /^(\d{1,3})\.(\d{1,3})\.(\d{1,3})\.(\d{1,3})$/)
I tested it with this:
