But it's your department, presumably under one management - can't you
negotiate with the sysadmin to let though your magic (but unusual) forms
of local part? The default config is supposed to protect newbies; the
idea is that the sysadmin has to make a conscious decision to let this
stuff through - which hopefully will make him/her think about whether
there is any danger or not.
