Sorry, my command of English seems to be too bad, I would have
understood "Is there a case to be put to moving [...] to version 4?"
as "I'd like to know whether there are good reasons for moving [...]
to version 4?" which is not particularily Debian-centric.

My answer to /this/ question would have been: If exim3 works for you,
stay with it, if you are doing a fresh installation use exim4, it is
easier to understand and more powerful. Additionally it is becoming
difficult to find support for exim3 on its main support list (exim-users)
because most of the active participants have switched to v4.

If the intended question was "Will sarge still ship exim3 as default
MTA" I'd reply with "Afaik it has not been decided yet, but personally
I am opposed to that and would rather have exim4 or postfix.

        new upstream release we won't see sarge in this decade. -reas
