Use procmail if your exim supports it - or call procmail from your .forward
frodo:~ cat .forward
"|IFS=' ' && exec /usr/local/bin/procmail -f- || exit 75 #userid"
replace userid with your username.

Procmail handles that for you, as do deliver, maildrop etc.
