This is in the Unicode conversion support functions. I did not touch
them :P. I never used "assert" anyway (*OUCH OUCH OUCH*).

The buf is 1024 chars and exim will just exit if the string does not fit
into it ... so this is at least not a security issue, rather the opposite.
