What probably happens is the following:
Exim uses a fixed "block" size when it sends body data (not sure about
the exact size). The last body block sent over the network is naturally
smaller. If it ends up having a specific "size", it seems to get lost on
the way, with eventual retransmits getting lost too ...
To confirm this theory, you could change the block size exim uses (use a
third of the size to make the packets smaller). This will not fix the
problem (!?), but it will affect different email bodies.
Then, to see who is the culprit, you really need to track that single
packets way over the whole network path.
