[Exim] Antivirus

I could not access my ISP pop3.mailsever for a whole day.But I could do
it with Windows easily.
Could it be due to virus attack? If it so, how to prevent it?
I have Debian 3.0 with exim 3.2 as MTA and Mutt as MUA.
