/usr/sbin/sendmail is called by a lot of other applications to send
out mail. Simply stopping the Exim daemon will not prevent these
applications from calling Exim, if they have to deliver mail.

Another possibility is a cron job that starts queue runners at regular
intervals. Both server.domain.net and yahoo.co.au are indeed
unroutable mail domains, maybe someone is trying to relay spam through
your server. Have you ever noticed that 162.42.208.49, the very
server you use to post to this list, is itself listed in SPEWS (not
escalated):

1, 162.42.208.49, John Hites / customerblast.com

This entry alone will severely impact your ability to send out
legitimate mail, and you will have to cope with the error messages.
