Agreed. ${readsocket} is very helpful.
Have a daemon listening on a Unix socket and performing all
computations. Exim just provides it with some data and gets back the
results.
I have used Net::Server::PreFork for the daemon quite successfully.
Recently I became very interested in POE (<
http://poe.perl.org/) and so
use POE's SocketFactory and ReadWrite wheels now.
