PS: I've compiled several times on MacOSX, but not FreeBSD!

forget previous experience. Unless there is something odd with
Local/Makefile (I presume you used an ordinary editor, like vi or
bbedit), I do not see why you should have problems. I run 10.2.x.

Start from a clean source tree from the exim archive, prepare your
Local/Makefile and make.
