I would refer to a post made on April 7th by Nico Erfurth about this issue. Here is the text of that email:

Use your scripts to create a file that can be used for the route_file
option of the domainlist-router.
The file should look like
aol.com: the.currently.used.smarthost byname

You should upgrade! exim3 development has been stopped.
