From xircom, send mail to user@dellbook. Assuming that dellbook is
properly configured to accept incoming mail on the SMTP port, you're all
set.
I don't use the smarthost feature, but if it does what I think it does,
you'll need to set up a manualroute router before your smarthost router
to manually route @dellbook to 192.168.1.252.
I'm not sure how to construct this router or how to configure exim on
the laptop to receive.

Well, either you can add IMAP/POP3 to the desktop, or you can add exim
to your laptop. Then again, if the laptop already has exim, then it's
not much more complex to do the manualroute thing for local users.
