[Exim] Exim on Solaris 9

I'm having a bit of trouble getting Exim to work on Solaris 9

Ive compiled it and made sure it works by sending a few emails from the
command line

As the instructions say I've:

Deleted /usr/lib/sendmail and made a symlink from /usr/lib/sendmail to
/usr/exim/bin/exim and killed any sendmail processes that were running

As far as I can tell from the documentation that's all I should need to do,
the strange thing is, whenever I telnet to port 25 on the machine it still
greets me with the sendmail greeting and not exim, but on the process list
it has exim and no sendmail.

I've rebooted, checked for other occurences of sendmail on the machine and
beaten a few people with sticks, but still no joy.

Any help would be great.
